Pebbled Beaches of Luna, La Union

Baluarte Watch Tower which was built by the Spaniards as an observation post against impending raids from marauders and pirates.

A group of stone – pickers gather pebble stones from the shore for selling and exporting.

A young boy selling pebble stones with different colors stored in a bottle. The big bottle costs P40.00 pesos while the small bottle costs P20.00 pesos. He said that he’ll use the money for his schooling.

Luna is famous for its colorful and fine pebble stones of various shapes and sizes. Named after the famous Luna brothers during the revolution, the town has not only provided pebble stones in the country but in abroad as well. What is fascinating is that although generations of stone pickers in the area have constantly harvested the shore’s treasures, the supply of the stones seems to be endless.
